I'm a first time mother at 20 yrs old. My son is 13 months old tomorrow and he has a girl cousin who is 5 months older than him. He saw her throwing a tantrum so now he does it too, but worse!! Screaming, yelling, running around stomping, hitting, throwing oh my gosh!! My sister in law tells me to just leave him throw his fit and walk away, but there has to be some other to to actually let him know that he shouldn't do that!! We've popped him on the butt a few times, and he seems to be slowly starting to understand "NO!" But I don't really think spanking teaches him much but to hit. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, daddy had got him started on laying down with a bottle. He loves food, but his bottle is his comfort to go to sleep, any suggestions on how to stop this and throw baba away?

23 year old ma first timmer. My son is 13 moths and hes doing the samething. he kicks, screams throws things etc. to tell you the truth i wish i had an answer. But basically i have started to do the same thing, with him it looks like he understands what he is doing but does it anyway. i personally think you just have to continually tell him no no no don't don't don't.

 P.S. And i think at 13 months your baby should not be laying down with a bottle try a passy instead just to wing him off.
