My 4 1/2 month old won't take the bottle--i've bought every nuipple out there and still refuses. She takes 2-3 oz @ the most and refuses the rest. I'v sarted w/ pumped breastmilk and also tried similac then enfamil--still fights it off. Any advice ?  Have to go back to work soon and it's hard to do if she can't drink from the bottle. How long does it take for the bottlefeeding transition take ?? I've started since she was 3months old and still no luck.

No Avatar Have you tried the soothie bottle yet? It worked real good for my baby! Since that was her first real sucking sensation with the soothie she had at the hospital and at home, she liked that best when she started using the bottle after the breast.

No Avatar Try the first years breast flow bottles. They are the most like the breast, and the baby sucks in less air.

No Avatar My 10 wk old used to take the Avent bottles really well, but since she's breastfed, I dropped off the bottle practice after I figured she was good on it.  Well, that was a mistake.  I'm easing her back into bottles using the First Years Breastflow bottle.  It still takes her 5 hrs from her last feeding to take it.  She usually eats every 3 hrs, so you can see that it requires her to get pretty hungry, but it's working and she'll take as much as I have in the bottle once she gets going.  I'm planning to make the transition back to Avent once she gets the hang of bottles again because the Breastflow is too expensive to buy a whole bunch.  I'd recommend waiting until your baby gets hungry.  Try at the normal feeding time and if he/she won't take it then, don't feed from the breast, just wait until the baby cries or try again every hour.
