Little children love fingerplays. Not only do fingerplays make a connection between the words of the song and their meaning, they are just plain fun!
Repeat the fingerplays and actions several times. Each time you do, ask your child to join in. After a few repetitions, your child will be able to perform the motions all on his or her own.
"Open, Shut Them"Open, shut them, (open and close fists)
Open, shut them,
Give a little clap, clap, clap. (clap three times)
Open, shut them,
Open, shut them,
Put them in your lap, lap, lap. (hands in lap)
Creep them, crawl them, (walk fingers up body)
Creep them, crawl them,
Right up to your chin, chin, chin.
Open wide your little mouth, (touch lips)
But do not let them in. (run fingers downward, tickling)
