Choosing a pumpkin can be fun for the whole family, especially if you bypass the local supermarket and head out to a pumpkin patch.

Why not bring home a set of pumpkins in varying sizes? With some well-placed decorations, you can transform the collection into a pumpkin family complete with mom, dad, kids, and pets. And when you use markers and paint, there are no seeds to clean up and no sharp blades to worry about.

Step by Step:
  1. Cover your work area with newspapers.
  2. Guide your children to decorate their pumpkins any way they choose with markers or paint. Encourage them to use their imagination: draw an open mouth with just a few teeth, place some yarn on the top for hair, and so forth.
  3. When your work is done, you can paint the pumpkins with a glossy medium varnish to give them a finished look.
  4. Display them where guests will be sure to notice!
