An aquarium is great fun to watch - but to eat?

Description:
Here are a couple of quick fishy snack ideas that are not only yummy but also an ocean of fun to make.

Allow children to assemble their own creations, and encourage creativity and imagination. While spreading on ingredients, kids will be developing fine motor coordination; by talking about their creations, they'll be developing language arts and social skills.

But this edible art won't last long: it tastes as good as it looks!

Step by Step:

  1. Add a few drops of blue food coloring to the cream cheese and stir.
  2. Spread cream cheese on large, rectangular crackers to look like waves.
  3. Place a few fish-shaped crackers on top of the blue cream cheese so they look like they're swimming.
  4. Crumble an extra cracker into tiny pieces and sprinkle the pieces on the bottom of the ocean to look like sand.
  5. Optional: Take a few Cheerios and stick them above the goldfish to make air bubbles. Use thin sticks of celery or green fruit leather to replicate seaweed.

Materials:
8 oz. softened cream cheese bar
Blue food coloring
Bowl and spoon
A few large, rectangular-shaped crackers
2 cups small fish-shaped crackers, such as Goldfish crackers
