Floats and marching, what Fourth of July would be complete without a parade?
Before you head over to your local Fourth of July parade, help your children and the other boys and girls in the neighborhood create one of their own.

Before you head over to your local Fourth of July parade, help your children and the other boys and girls in the neighborhood create one of their own.
Tell everyone to dress in red, white, and blue and to grab rhythm instruments or noisemakers. You can use pots, pans, and wooden spoons to create your own drum corps.
Play marching music and start the pararde around the playground or down the sidewalk.
Step by Step:
Make Your Own Parade Floats:
Decorate tricycles or other riding or pulling toys for a parade. Some decorating ideas:
- Weave red, white, and blue crepe paper through bicycle spokes.
- Tie balloons or streamers to handlebars
- Make a float in a wagon.
- Hang cans or pie plates from the back of your bike or trike.
March, March, March:
Have your older children march in different directions: backward, forward, left, right, diagonally. Also at different speeds - fast, slow, very fast, very slow! This will help improve coordination and listening skills.
