Diaper Party - Nov 29th, 2007
Keeping your baby entertained during diaper changes helps things go more smoothly.
You can help turn diaper-changing into a positive experience by providing other stimuli for baby to focus on during this routine. The more soothing the environment and the more interesting the distractions, the better the chance your infant will settle down. And don't be shy about singing: babies don't care whether you are off-key or not, they just love the attention!
Step by Step:
- Place your child gently on a changing table or a soft surface.
- Give him a small toy to play with before you start the diaper change.
- Talk to your baby and describe what you are doing. Use an extremely expressive voice to hold his attention.
- Sing a song! Sing the following to the tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat":
Change, change, change your diaper,
Wow, it's really smelly!
Take it off, wipe and wash,
Now, I'll kiss your belly!
