An album of treasured photos is even more special when it's homemade.

It's fun to look through photos with your child, and even more gratifying to make a photo album together. As you fill it, point out and identify the various people. This observation helps a child learn about familial relationships. Be sure you include lots of pictures of your child among those of other family members. She will love discovering them and saying, "Look, that's me!"

Step by Step:

  1. Fold sheets of paper in half to make at least four pages.
  2. Glue one photo on each page.
  3. Punch two holes in the fold. Thread yarn through holes, tie, and crease.
  4. Point to each photo and name the people in it.
  5. Once your child is familiar with the names, ask him or her to point to Grandma or some other family member.
  6. Laminate the cover of your handmade family album to preserve as a keepsake.
