Building baby muscles is easy. All it takes is time and love.

Description:
Babies can get exercise just lying on their backs. Simply hold a toy above your child and see what happens! As your baby reaches for the toy he or she is building gross motor skills. As she moves her eyes to look at the toy, she is developing her vision.

By engaging your child in this activity, you are encouraging his or her ability to grasp an object?and sharing some close one-on-one playtime. So remember, every tiny move is a step toward building those baby muscles. Up, down, up, down!

Step by Step:

  1. Hold a toy above your baby where he or she can see it.
  2. Place the toy in his or her hand and help close his or her fingers around it.
  3. Take your hand away, to see if he or she might briefly hold the toy.
  4. When the toy drops, pick it up and place it back into his or her hand.
  5. When you return the toy, place it in his or her opposite hand.
  6. Your baby's hands will eventually grow strong enough to hold the toy.
