Nature Walk - Aug 3rd
The summer is here and it is time to get out and enjoy the beautiful balmy weather. Being outside gives us the opportunity to enjoy Mother Nature and the wonders that she holds.
Description:
Start out by planning a natural treasure hunt with the playgroup. This activity is fantastic for introducing new words and concepts. Children will feel pride in making their very own discoveries.
Step by Step:
Post pictures of natural objects on large piece of paper and place on the wall. Give each child a bag or bucket and go on a hunt for the items. Items may include: sand, twig, insect, seed, dead leaf, green leaf, red leaf, acorn, pine cone, tree bark, grass, etc... Gather the items and name them out loud holding each item up to the appropriate vocabulary word. If possible, secure the item on the board next to the word.
