A train ride can be an exciting adventure for your little one.
Description:
Real trains and toy trains have fascinated people for years and they are no less exciting for little ones.
If you live in a big city, you'll be able to find a train ride easily, whether it's on a commuter train or a small train in a park. But, if you are in a less urban area, you'll have to look a little harder. If you live close to a train line, you may be able to book a short train ride from your town to the next town and back again or someone could pick you up. Or there might be a small miniature train ride in a park.
If you can't find a real train to ride, search in the phone book for toy train stores or toy stores that have a toy train set up in the store. Then you and your child can watch it operate.
Before your visit, go to the library and get some books about trains, such as "The Little Engine that Could" and read to your tyke. Teach your child the song, "I've Been Working On The Railroad."
Step by Step:
- Locate an appropriate train ride or toy train set up to visit.
- Prepare your child for the adventure by reading the library books.
- Book your train trip or make sure the train or toy store will be running their train set on the day of your visit.
- On the day of your adventure pack a jacket, bottled water, and snacks or a lunch and wear comfortable shoes.
- Enjoy your trip and be sure and take a nap afterward, because you'll be tired!
