Preparing your little one (and YOU) for school
Description:
Well, you've done a super job raising your little one. It's hard to believe, but here it is..."THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL." It's a special day for your toddler, and a "gulp" in your throat for you to realize how big he's gotten - and so fast it seems.
Step by Step:
- After checking out the school as to its standards, bring your child there a few times to familiarize him with the halls, playground and possibly meet the teacher beforehand.
- Chat about the fun and learning ahead in a positive way.
- Here it is - the big day for your "getting so big" child! It's an emotional, but a wonderful time for both of you. Let him take along a favorite small toy for security.
- Ask teacher to allow you to stay for just a little while. There may be a few tears (mostly hidden ones on your part), but when you see the child getting involved it's your cue to exit.
